I always feel super excited and honoured when a couple flys me out to another country to photograph their wedding. Adam and Tanya were to get married at the beautiful brand new (It literally opened it’s doors 3 weeks ago) Olympic Lagoon Resort in Paphos, Cyprus and I couldn’t wait for their big day to begin.
It was nice and sunny as I arrived at the resort to start bridal prep and Tanya was enjoying a glass of champagne with her sister Sam whilst she had her make up and hair done in the resort’s spa. Tanya seemed pretty nerve free and excited about the days events. Her dress was stunning and the honeymoon suite they were staying in overlooked the sea and you could even see the gazebo where they were to be married. Surrounded on two sides by the sea it really is a beautiful place to say your wedding vows.
Things were running a little late so I first saw Adam and his best man Luke standing at the front of the aisle looking very sharp I might add and Adam hid the nerves well. A harpist set the scene as you heard the waves crashing on the rocks around us and the sun poked out from behind the clouds just as Tanya and her proud father came walking down the aisle.
The ceremony was lovely and there were so many beautiful moments and smiles between Tanya and Adam as they exchanged rings and read their vows to one another. Adam’s Dad did a beautiful reading followed by some really nice words of wisdom which got everyone a little teary eyed. After the register was signed Tanya and Adam walked back down the aisle as husband and wife covered in confetti thrown by their closest friends and family.
I did a few group shots with the sea as our backdrop followed by some couple shots of Tanya and Adam around the hotel grounds whilst the guests enjoyed champagne and canapés in the “You and Me” bar which I thought was quite fitting.
The Cyprus weather had been a bit unpredictable the last few days and with the wedding breakfast set up outside everyone waited with baited breathe to see if the rain clouds would pass and thankfully they eventually did. We even had a sunset as the sun reappeared under the dark clouds creating a nice backdrop for a couple of quick shots before heading in for dinner.
The three course meal was fantastic (thanks for including me guys:) and there was a beautiful Mr and Mrs neon sign set up next to the tables which created a great photo opportunity.
Tanya and Adam are having a party back in Bicester in a few weeks time so are saving their longer speeches for then but it was great to hear and capture the shortened versions from Lloyd, Adam and Luke. Great stories shared and some lovely sentimental words which once again brought a few tears and lots of laughs.
Next up it was party time so everyone moved in to the club inside which was really cool and exclusive to the wedding party. After a great first dance from the newlyweds everyone hit the floor and partied the night away well into the early hours of the morning.
Tanya and Adam, what can I say? Thank you so much for flying me out to photograph your wedding. I had a blast with you guys and I’m really looking forward to the party back home in a few weeks time. I could’t wait to share some pictures with you so here is your sneak peek storyboard! Enjoy the rest of your honeymoon!
Big thanks also to best man Luke for helping me with my lights on the day, most appreciated mate, I’ll buy you a few beers in Bicester 🙂
