Last Friday I had the pleasure of photographing Kelly and George’s wedding at The Tythe Barn in Bicester. It was a beautiful sunny day which meant even though we were now in October the ceremony would be held outside which is always my favourite type of ceremony.
Kelly got ready in the Nook which is right next to the barn and you can literally hear the excitement building in the gardens as Kelly was getting ready with her bridesmaids, flower girls and little page boy Jack. It was a very busy space but Kelly managed to keep calm amongst it all and she looked stunning in her dress as she walked down the aisle hand in hand with son Jack. It was so cute as halfway down the aisle Jack spotted George and shouted “Daddy” and gave George a big hug as they met at the front of the aisle.
The ceremony was short and sweet just like Kelly and George wanted it and everyone was soon in the gardens enjoying drinks and canapés in the sunshine. We took the opportunity to do a few group shots along with some lovely natural documentary shots of everyone enjoying themselves. We even had time for a few couple shots before dinner in the front gardens with a great blue sky above us.
Before dinner there were a few surprises as one person from each table were taken to the cow shed. Unbeknown to the chosen ones they were to be dressed up as chefs as they were to be the carvers for each table. The next surprise was that they had to come out dancing to Dolly Parton’s “Working 9 till 5”. It was great fun with everyone throwing their hats up in the air to finish the routine.
We had been keeping an eye on the light as I was pretty sure we were going to get some great colour with the day being so clear and just after the speeches it was perfect so we nipped out to finish Kelly and George’s couple portraits surrounded by beautiful golden light.
Soon it was time for the band to get the party started but not before Kelly and George took to the dance floor for a lovely first dance as husband and wife. Just before we left everyone to party on we got a lovely finishing photo for the album using the lit up trees next to the barn. A great finish to a fantastic wedding day.
Kelly and George, thanks so much for asking me to photograph your wedding day. It was great fun being around you guys on such a big day in your lives and I couldn’t wait to get started on your sneak peek storyboard so here it is!
