On Friday I had the pleasure of shooting Betony and Jason’s wedding at The Tythe Barn in Bicester.
I met up with Betony and her lovely bridesmaids at the Nook which is a new feature at the barn, a custom designed bridal suite and getting ready room which is a great space to shoot in. Betony was so organised that she looked completely stress free and was enjoying being pampered when I arrived. It was a nice relaxed morning and everyone was ready on time before heading over to St Mary’s Church for the ceremony.
Jason was a little nervous standing at the front of aisle waiting for Betony’s arrival but it was all smiles as she walked in looking stunning accompanied by her very proud father.
The ceremony was beautiful with personal readings and lovely moments between Betony and Jason as they read their vows and exchanged rings. The sun was out as everyone made their way out of the church and there was a tunnel of bubbles leading the way to the Tythe Barn which is literally a stones throw from the church.
Betony and Jason had left plenty of time for all their guests to enjoy the gardens, canapes, drinks and games before dinner and it made our job nice and easy as we had plenty of time to get some lovely documentary images, group shots and bride and groom portraits. The sky was looking pretty dramatic so we made the most of it with some photos on the drive before heading back to the barn for the speeches.
Hazel, Jason and Darren did a fab job of giving funny, sentimental and heart felt speeches which had the guests in tears and laughter throughout. That continued, well not the tears but the laughter as Jason and Betony had booked a magician to entertain their guests throughout dinner and he did a great job with my favourite being is ability to steal the groomsmens cufflinks without them having a clue he was doing it.
After dinner there was time to relax in the garden with a coffee and we took the bridal party for a few group shots before heading back in for the cutting of the cake and first dance.
We sure got lucky with the weather as it was supposed to rain from 2pm but it didn’t arrive till 7pm which was perfect timing as we got to end the day by using the the rain to create one of my favourite shots of the year so far as your see below. A great way to finish an excellent wedding day.
