Saturday saw me head over to the Kingscote Barn in Gloucestershire to photograph the beautiful wedding of Ellie and Andrew.
After a week of bad weather we were blessed with a beautiful, clear, Autumn day and as I made my way over to where Ellie and her bridesmaids/family were getting ready there were colours and light everywhere I looked. It was going to be a fantastic day!
Ellie seemed pretty relaxed as I did a few detail and make up shots in the little cottage right next to the main barn. Everyone was full of excitement and smiles as they finished their final preparations. Ellie’s dress was stunning and fit like a glove. It was impossible to take a bad picture of her in it and Andrew was blown away as she walked down the aisle with her very proud father Richard.
The ceremony was held in the main barn which had great light pouring in through the side windows. Ellie and Andrew made sure the ceremony had lovely personal touches and even included a reading from Harry Potter which is one of their favourite books. It was great to see them so happy as they exchanged vows and rings, they literally couldn’t stop smiling and there were so many beautiful moments between the two of them it was simply a joy to capture it all.
With the weather being so kind it would have been rude not to spend a bit of time outside after the ceremony so everyone enjoyed drinks and canapes out on the lawn whilst we did a few group and couple shots arounds the grounds. Kingscote barn is a pretty unique venue. Your right down in a valley, surrounded by rolling hills, greenery and winding paths which create a really picturesque scene and I loved every minute of our couple session with Ellie and Andrew. It makes my job so easy when the couple are willing to help bring to life every creative vision that I have. Even when we got to a gate that was locked and I thought it would make a great shot if they were on the path the other side Ellie didn’t even hesitate and started to climb over it in her dress…now that’s my kinda bride! I think your agree from the shots below it was worth it.
It was soon time to head in for the wedding breakfast which was followed by one of my favourite parts of any wedding day, the speeches! Richard, Andrew, Adarsh and James did a great job telling stories and reliving moments in Ellie and Andrew’s lives. There was lots of laughter and a few tears but each speech was delivered perfectly and I got some great reaction shots throughout.
Just as the speeches finished the sun was setting so we nipped out for a few final shots at the top of the hill which had great views of the valley. I love the silhouette shot in particular which you will see below.
With the barn now turned around ready for the evening. Ellie and Andrew had booked a band and a DJ so their guests would be well entertained throughout the night. After Ellie and Andrew had had their first dance as husband and wife there was a little surprise which nobody saw coming. Andrew made his way over to the band as the keyboard player made a little speech and then Andrew took the mic and began to sing a rendition of John Legends “All of Me”….wow what a voice! and what a great way to kick off the evening.
Ellie and Andrew, what can I say? It was simply a pleasure to spend the day with you and all your family and friends. You were a joy to photograph and I can’t wait to share your full collection with you in a few weeks time. I hope you have a great time in Scotland. Here is your sneak peek storyboard!
Thanks also to Richard Marks for assisting on the day, great job mate.
