Last Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Gillian and Nick’s wedding, with the ceremony being held at St Laurence Church in Appleton and the reception at The Bay Tree Hotel in beautiful Burford.

I started the day at a lovely house called the Five Acres which had been set up perfectly for Gillian and her bridesmaids to enjoy their bridal preparations. Everyone was in great spirits and looking forward to the days events. Gillian’s father looked really proud as he arrived and saw Gillian for the first time and they made their way to a vintage taxi which would take them to the ceremony.

All the guests had arrived at the church via a Vintage bus which was driven from the Bay Tree Hotel in Burford. Nick looked very dapper in his suit as did his brother and Best Man, Alex. The weather had cleared just in time for Gillian’s arrival and everyone headed in for what was to be a lovely ceremony.

I loved how Gillian and Nick had put their own personal touches on their wedding and this started with the ceremony which had beautiful readings from friends and family and even the music during the signing of the register was played by a friend of theirs. It was a pleasure to watch Gillian and Nick say their vows and become husband and wife in front of all their close friends and family.

The sun was now shining and everyone headed outside to congratulate the happy couple and we even had time to do a big group shot in front of the church and walk the grounds for a few photos whilst everyone headed back to Burford.

Burford is so picturesque and the Bay Tree Hotel was a lovely setting for the wedding reception. We thankfully had a break in the rain which meant everyone got to enjoy the gardens whilst we did a few group photos and couple shots. The guests enjoyed champagne and canapés before heading in for the wedding breakfast.

Another lovely personal touch was that Gillian and Nick had written “ice breakers” for each of their guests to get the conversation flowing. Such a lovely touch and I’m sure created some funny moments as each guest read their own unique message. The room itself looked fantastic and the food and service were faultless throughout.

It was soon time for the speeches which were absolutely fantastic. So many funny and sentimental moments. A few tears and plenty of laughs throughout. Once again a joy to capture it all.

As the sun was going down and the rooms were being prepared for the evenings entertainment we headed outside to take some photos along the picturesque streets of Burford. We had some great evening light and I love the photos of Gillian and Nick next to the rose bushes as you will see below.

The party soon got started as Gillian and Nick had their first dance and many of their guests joined them on the dance floor to party the night away and end what was a fantastic wedding day.

Gillian and Nick, thank you so much for asking me to be your wedding photographer. It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know you both and being a part of your day. I hope you’re both sipping a cocktail on honeymoon whilst reading this and I look forward to seeing you both upon your return. Heres your sneak peek storyboard!
