I had a cracking day on Saturday photographing the wedding of Hannah and Chris at the Oxford Belfry just outside Thame. The weather was kind to us all day and Hannah and Chris were simply a pleasure to be around, as were their friends and family.
It was lovely to head back to St Mary’s church in Wendover too as it’s been a little while since I have done a wedding there. The vicar Mark always gives a lovely service and likes throwing in a few jokes along the way. In fact when Hannah arrived in her beautiful bridal car he said to her “Ok then, we’ll just wait for Chris to arrive and then we can head in”, Hannah’s face was a picture of relief as your see below when she realised he was joking 🙂
Hannah is Scottish and one tradition that was a new one for me was to throw coins out of the bridal car for the children to “scramble” and collect. I love these little unique touches at weddings and it was great fun capturing it all. One of the lads ended up with quite a haul of cash!
Onto the Oxford Belfry and everyone got to enjoy a few drinks in the garden soaking up some sunshine whilst we did a few group shots. Then we took Hannah and Chris around the grounds for some couple shots using the lovely mid afternoon sun and the beautiful greenery of the gardens.
Many of Hannah and Chris’ family had travelled many miles to share their special day with them coming from as far as Scotland and even one from America! Most of the guests were staying at the hotel which made for a great party atmosphere throughout dinner and the speeches.
After the cutting of the cake which was made by one of Chris’s sisters they headed to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife which was soon followed by a lovely song sung by one of Hannah’s bridesmaids Lotti. A lovely way to end the days formalities and get the evening party started!
Hannah and Chris, it truly was a pleasure to photograph your big day and I really look forward to showing you both the full collection, I’m sure you can’t wait to see some photos so for now heres your sneak peek storyboard!
Thanks also to my assistant Leela Wanless, great to have you with me as always.
