On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Melanie and Mark’s beautiful wedding at Dodford Manor in Northamptonshire.
I arrived to meet up with Mel and her bridesmaids as they were finishing the final touches to hair and make up in a room right next to where the ceremony was to take place. In fact you could sneak a look at the room as it started to fill up with their friends and family through a little one way window which of course added to the excitement.
Mel looked lovely in her dress with a long train and had a most unique bouquet of flowers and butterfly jewels. I love these little personal touches that couples incorporate in their weddings.
Mark and the groomsmen were very relaxed and full of jokes, enjoying a few beers in the reception area of the barn before they moved over to the ceremony room to start greeting their guests.
Mel’s father Martin looked very proud as he walked his daughter down the aisle to join hands with a slightly emotional Mark who was clearly blown away by his beautiful brides entrance.
The ceremony was lovely and Mel and Mark read their own vows which I always think is such a nice thing to do and they held it together well which is also an accomplishment! They walked back down the aisle to a flurry of confetti which made for some great shots.
Everyone then enjoyed canapés and drinks whilst they were entertained by a magician. The English weather was being positively English so going outside was not an option but we managed to make the most of the barn and do the group and some couple shots inside before everyone headed over to the adjacent barn for the wedding breakfast.
After a lovely 3 course meal it was time for the speeches which were brilliantly delivered by Martin, Mark and best man Sam. Some really funny stories were shared and some emotional moments too. It was a pleasure to capture it all.
Mel and Mark braved the cold/wind and rain so we could get a few umbrella and creative light shots outside before we all headed back in for the cutting of the cake and the first dance which rounded off the days formalities perfectly.
Mel and Mark, you guys are a pleasure to be around and it was great fun capturing your wedding day and seeing you both so happy together. I hope you enjoy looking through the sneak peek and I will be in touch soon to arrange your full viewing.
Big thanks also to Leela Wanless for assisting and 2nd shooting on the day, great job as always.
