On Saturday I had the pleasure of shooting Sarah and Dan’s wedding at the Holy Cross and St Mary church with the reception being held at Quainton Memorial Hall which had been beautifully decorated by Sarah and Dan, friends and family.
I have known Dan for over 10 years, we play basketball together and I was honoured when he asked me to shoot his and Sarah’s wedding. There were a lot of familiar faces at the wedding which is always nice. Couples who’s weddings I have already had the pleasure of covering and of course a few players from the Aylesbury Dux basketball team.
I started the day over at Sarah and Dan’s new house which they only moved into a month ago. The girls were all busy getting ready and Sarah didn’t seem nervous at all as a million and one things were going on around her. Dan has four sisters who were bridesmaids and Sarah had three other close friends who made up the seven and they all looked lovely in their blue and violet dresses.
Sarah of course stole the show and looked amazing in her vintage style lace dress and she travelled to the church in style, a vintage VW camper van which had been decked out very stylishly and complete with champagne to start the celebrations later in the day.
Dan was waiting patiently at the church with his two best men and the hip flash made a few appearances as the other guests were arriving and taking their seats in a packed church.
The ceremony was lovely and there were a few tears as Dan and Sarah exchanged vows. I love the shot just after their first kiss, you’ll spot it below…timeless and beautiful, which summed up the whole day really.
The sun was shining as everyone gathered outside the church to throw confetti and congratulate the new Mr and Mrs Sloman. We had some time to do a few group shots and some beautiful portraits around the grounds before heading over to the George pub for a well needed pint or two, them, not me ๐
There was a great atmosphere as everyone enjoyed the sunshine and few drinks outside the George. There was beer festival going on on the green and the place was full of people. The camper van got quite a lot of attention and we made the most of it with a few shots in the driving seat.
It was soon time to head over to Quainton Memorial Hall for afternoon tea and of course one of the highlights of a wedding, the speeches! Sarah’s Dad, Dan, Andy and Anthony did a great job telling stories about Sarah and Dan from the 10 years+ they have been together. We even had a dual at the end to find out “the real” best man which ended with a few bruises but was highly entertaining.
After the speeches we made the most of the evening sunshine by doing a few shots around the village before heading back for Sarah and Dan’s first dance as husband and wife. The rest of their guests soon joined them on the dance floor to party with the live band. A great end to the day’s formalities and a fantastic wedding day.
Sarah and Dan, thanks for asking me to cover your wedding day. We had a cracking time with you all and I hope you have a great time in Italy on your honeymoon. Heres your sneak peek storyboard!
Thanks also to Leela Wanless for assisting and 2nd shooting on the day, great job as always.
