I loved photographing Sophie and Laurence’s wedding on Saturday. I have known Sophie since I was 8 years old as she lived on the same estate as me growing up and it was so great seeing some familiar faces at the wedding.
Sophie had so many great ideas I just knew the marquee would be beautifully decorated and it sure was. We had a cracker of a sunny day too and a great setting in the grounds next to her Auntie’s house. Add to that an amazing sunset and you have everything a photographer could ask for.
It was all go as I arrived to start bridal prep, Sophie had eleven bridesmaids and five flower girls so busy was definitely the word as everyone went about making their final preparations. Everyone looked amazing and I loved the flower head pieces the bridesmaids and flower girls wore. I even had a few minutes with the flower girls to get some really cute shots of them before everyone headed off to the church in vintage VW camper vans.
Sophie looked stunning in her dress and it was all a bit teary as she walked down the aisle with her very proud father Jim. St Peter and St Paul’s church is an absolute stunner, it sits right on top of a hill overlooking Dinton and Ford. The views are really something special. The ceremony was lovely and everyone enjoyed some sunshine and confetti throwing outside the church before heading off to the Bridge Cottages for drinks!
We stayed behind for a few minutes to make the most of the scenery before heading over to the reception. Sophie and Laurence arrived in style standing with their heads out the sun roof of their VW camper to a huge round of applause from their guests. It sure was a scorcher of a day so we left most of the group and couple shots till later and made the most of getting some good documentary of shots of the guests and all the beautiful details in the marquee and surrounding areas.
After dinner it was time for the speeches which were absolute crackers. So many funny moments. We loved capturing all the guests and speakers reactions throughout which you will see below.
We were treated to amazing evening light so we did Sophie and Laurence’s bride and groom portraits surrounded by a the warm glow of evening sunshine before also photographing the goings on around the venue such as lawn games, sparklers and limbo!
Sophie and Laurence had a great first dance followed by Sophie dancing with her Dad and Laurence his Mum before everyone hit the dance floor to enjoy the band and party on.
The whole day had such a relaxed, chilled vibe to it. Everyone just having a good time and enjoying each others company. Just the way a wedding should be.
Sophie and Laurence, you guys are awesome and I thank you so much for asking me to photograph your big day, we had a blast with you guys. I hope you have a great time in Vietnam and Cambodia and I look forward to seeing you both when you get back. Heres your sneak peek storyboard!
